Artist Talk: Fabiola Jean Louis

March 2, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

Marie Antoinette Is Dead by Fabiola Jean-Louis, from the series, Rewriting History recently became a part of the Harn’s collection. Jean-Louis – a Haitian-born, New York-raised artist and visual activist – will discuss her work on view in AWE-some. Her exquisite photographs evoke the privilege and luxury of 18th and 19th century aristocratic portraiture which she subjects to historical and feminist critique by centering Black subjects. Jean-Louis will be in conversation with Dr. Porchia Moore, UF Assistant Professor of Museum Studies.
