Career Chat & Lunch with Mitchell Thomashow
March 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Free
Join the UF Gulf Scholars Program, the Center for Adaptive Integration, Resilience, Ethics, and Science (UF CAIRES), and the Sustainability Studies program for a student-led Q&A career conversation with Mitchell Thomashow — a leading scholar, teacher, and program builder in interdisciplinary sustainability and environmental studies.
Mitchell Thomashow has served as a college president, led environmental studies programs, and written influential books and articles on environmental philosophy and practice. He works with institutions across the globe, offering imaginative, visionary, and practical ways of thinking about environmental learning. His work emphasizes making connections across disciplines, integrating multiple viewpoints, and cultivating ecological imagination.
This informal lunch conversation is designed especially for undergraduate students interested in sustainability, environmental studies, public service, and interdisciplinary career paths. With a student-led Q&A, Mitchell will reflect on his career journey, share lessons from building programs and institutions, and discuss how students can navigate meaningful work at the intersection of environment, ethics, education, and community engagement. There will be plenty of time for student questions and discussion.
*This event counts as a Gulf Scholars cohort meeting for students pursuing the UF Gulf Scholars Medallion.
Lunch is only provided to those who register.
