Supporting Tenure and Promotion Activities in your Department

This workshop is designed to increase administrative staff’s understanding of the tenure/permanent status and promotion processes for faculty so that they may support those efforts more effectively. In this workshop, we’ll define tenure, permanent status, and promotion including eligibility. We’ll also discuss timing of the Tenure and Promotion (T&P) process, probationary periods, Tenure When Ready,” stopping the tenure clock, and promotions for both tenure and non-tenure accruing positions. Additionally, the workshop will include a review of the T&P process generally as well as the T&P packet composition. Lastly, we’ll identify ways administrative staff can assist faculty and describe required administrative transactions that must be completed in support of T&P decisions.
