November 16, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Event date: November 16, 2022 at 5:00pm EST

Event Location: Pugh Hall (Ocora)

This year marks the 15th year that students traveled to Tallahassee, Florida, Holly Springs, Glendora, Mississippi, Elaine, Arkansas, Birmingham, and Montgomery, Alabama, as participants in the Samuel Proctor Oral History Programs Mississippi Freedom Project’s fieldwork trip.

To celebrate MFP’s fifteen years of research and learning, the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program offers an open invitation to this year’s Mississippi Freedom Project (MFP) public program. During the public program, student participants, the community members they visited, and the Civil Rights activists they interviewed will share their reflections from this year’s fieldwork in the Mississippi Delta.

The MFP is an award-winning fieldwork initiative focused on interviewing civil rights veterans and participants of the 1964 Freedom Summer. It also highlights the work of contemporary activists, local politicians, labor organizers, educators, and students throughout the Mississippi Delta.

Interested in joining the MFP 2023 trip? Come and find out how! Refreshments and food will be provided.
