Milbauer Symposium: “Reimagining the Black Past: The Futures of Black Power”
March 25, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until April 22, 2021

“Reimagining the Black Past: The Futures of Black Power,” the virtual 2021 symposium of the Richard J. Milbauer Program in Southern History features five historians of the Black Power Movement in both its national and global contexts. Although these papers differ in their approach or topical lens, they collectively provide a new perspective on a dynamic field by illustrating the complex, diverse ways that African Americans tried to achieve change in America’s financial, cultural, and political systems in the decades after the early 1960s.
This meeting will occur over Zoom with one presentation each Thursday night at 7:00 PM (EST) from March 25-April 22. Each paper will be followed by comments and a question and answer time with UF faculty, students, and members of the public.
