Leading with Intercultural Competence for Inclusion and Belonging Webinar

This session overviews strategies to foster inclusion and belonging in multicultural environments utilizing principles of intercultural competence. Paloma Rodriguez, Director of the UF International Center’s Office of Global Learning will provide leaders with an opportunity to think deeply about cultural differences regarding a variety of identities (i.e., ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic class, gender, gender orientation…). During the session, participants will assess their own cultural orientation by considering their personal attitudes towards hierarchy, time, tasks, relationship building, and problem solving. They will also receive guidance and tools to analyze behaviors and deconstruct a variety of communication styles and cultural variations. Finally, they will consider strategies to provide inclusive work environments in which individuals with different orientations can interact safely and effectively.
