Journey to Juneteenth Freedom Walk 5K

The City of Gainesville is excited to host the inaugural Journey to Juneteenth Freedom Walk.
This walk is meant to educate and engage the Gainesville community on the rich history, legacy and resilience of Black and African Americans locally and nationally.
The 5k walk will begin at Depot park, extend into the community, and end back at Depot Park. Walking has played a huge role in the liberation of the Black and African American communities, whether (literally) walking to freedom along the Underground Railroad, walking through neighborhoods for marches and protests, walking to work with dignity during the Montgomery Bus Boycott or walking to improve health and wellbeing.
We look to honor the past and celebrate the present through community and connection. This event is for individuals of at all levels of fitness and all ages. Enjoy music and live performances in the park after the conclusion of the walk.
Check-in begins at 7:00 am, the walk starts promptly at 8:00am.
A limited number of t-shirts will be provided, be sure to register early and check-in at the event to receive your t-shirt.
