Golden Anniversary Commemoration of Black Thursday
April 15, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
This year is the 50th Anniversary of Black Thursday — a day in April 1971 when 70 students marched into President Stephen O’Connell’s office with a list of demands, including having the University address the shortage of Black faculty and students at UF. This event is designed to discuss the historical, cultural, and institutional impact of Black Thursday. In addition, students from University of Florida’s chapters of National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Sistuhs will share thoughts on the legacy and contemporary strategies of attaining the goals of Black Thursday.
