Gainesville Redistricting Workshop: Drawing Democracy With Transparency

December 7, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

The drawing of electoral districts is often considered one of the least transparent processes in democratic governance.

The University of Florida’s Bob Graham Center for Public Service and the City of Gainesville invite the public to participate in an information session and interactive workshop beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the University of Florida’s Pugh Hall Ocora.

To ensure public involvement in the redistricting process the City of Gainesville has partnered with UF professors Michael McDonald, Ph.D. and Dan Smith, Ph.D. to provide public access to DistrictBuilder — an easy-to-use, on-line mapping tool.

Are you ready to draw a district map for Gainesville City Commission consideration? Join us for this informative and hands-on map building session. Learn more about the City of Gainesville’s redistricting process, the guiding principles of representation and explore the map building software on the City of Gainesville website.
